Protective Film Rolls Company is an ito coated pet film manufacturer supplying transparent conductive PET film for touch sensors, display modules, electrode structures, EMI shielding, and electronic testing. A thin ITO conductive coating on PET substrate gives the film optical clarity and controlled sheet resistance, in 0.125 mm or 0.175 mm PET thickness. In production, coating uniformity, conductive-side protection, and stable resistance after cutting or lamination matter more than surface appearance alone.

Product Overview

ITO coated PET film is used when a clear plastic film also needs to carry electrical signals. Compared with ITO glass, PET is lighter and easier to slit for thin electronic parts. The ITO layer forms the transparent conductive surface, while the polyester base supports die cutting, slitting, and lamination.

In touch sensor structures, the conductive layer may work as a sensing track, current-distribution surface, or patterned electrode. For displays, transparent heaters, and smart film, it must balance conductivity and clarity. Lower resistance can improve current flow, but it is not always best when higher transmittance, lower haze, or a cleaner visual effect is required. Typical optical transmittance is around 75%–89%, depending on resistance grade and coating structure.

During inspection, resistance grade, transmittance, haze, PET thickness, and conductive-side direction are checked together. Samples are measured at different sheet positions by four-point probe method, because simple two-point meter testing can give unstable readings on thin conductive surfaces. Protective liner reduces scratches, dust marks, fingerprints, and handling mistakes before assembly.

Benefits

  • Clear conductive structure:PET substrate and ITO layer create a transparent surface for electrode designs.
  • Controlled resistance range:10–150 Ω/sq options support touch sensor, heater, shielding, and testing use.
  • Lighter than ITO glass:PET is easier to slit, cut, laminate, and fit into compact assemblies.
  • Stable sensing surface:Uniform resistance helps reduce unstable response after printing or lamination.
  • Practical factory control:Resistance uniformity, coating cleanliness, roll edges, visible defects, and conductive-side marking are checked.

How Does Sheet Resistance Affect Transparent Conductive PET Film Performance?

Sheet resistance affects how the film works in a touch sensor, transparent heater, display module, or test electrode. It is measured in ohms per square, so conductive performance can be compared across different sizes. Lower resistance usually gives stronger conductivity, but the final specification should also consider transmittance, haze, bending condition, and processing cost. For electrode use, uneven conductivity may cause unstable response, weak contact, or inconsistent current distribution after printing or lamination.

What Should Be Checked Before It Is Used as an Electrode Layer?

Before this conductive PET sheet is used as an electrode layer, thickness and surface appearance are not enough. The resistance grade should match the circuit design, touch sensor layout, or transparent electrode function. The conductive side must be confirmed before cutting, laminating, or bonding, because reverse assembly can cause failed contact. ITO coating should not be handled like copper foil, and direct soldering is usually not recommended; conductive silver paste, conductive adhesive tape, printed busbar, or FPC bonding is more practical. Sharp folding should also be avoided because the ITO layer may crack and increase resistance.

FAQ

Is ito coated pet film the same as anti-static PET film?

No. ITO coated PET film is a transparent conductive PET film with an electrode layer. Anti-static film controls surface charge and is not designed for touch sensor or transparent electrode use.

Which sheet resistance should be selected?

Lower resistance suits transparent heaters, EMI shielding, or stronger conductivity. Medium or higher resistance may suit sensing, testing, or electrode layouts where clarity and haze matter.

Can the ITO conductive side be cut or laminated?

Yes, but protect it from scratches, dust, and fingerprints. Cutting, slitting, and lamination should be tested before batch production.

Can this film be bent freely?

The PET base is flexible, but the ITO coating is a thin functional layer. Gentle curves are acceptable, while sharp folding or repeated creasing may damage conductivity.
