Protective Film Rolls Company is a manufacturer of adhesive backed polyester film supplied in roll stock and sheet form for lamination, industrial labels, overlays, surface bonding, and flat-panel protection. Built with a PET carrier film, PSA adhesive layer, and release liner, it is made for clean unwinding, stable flatness, and pressure bonding on smooth substrates. Rough, oily, dusty, or low-surface-energy surfaces should be tested before bulk use.

Product Overview

This adhesive backed polyester film is a controlled three-layer material. The PET film gives strength, flatness, and dimensional stability. The PSA adhesive layer bonds by pressure, so no heat, water, or solvent activation is needed. The release liner keeps the adhesive clean and helps the film feed smoothly during slitting, sheeting, laminating, and application.

A 50 um PET film with a 20 um acrylic PSA usually feels firm for flat panel bonding, while the same PET thickness with a softer removable adhesive is better for temporary overlays or cleaner removal. Permanent acrylic PSA is used for stronger bonding, removable PSA for cleaner removal, and lamination PSA for overlays, printed films, and panel covering.

In our factory handling checks, rolls with balanced liner release unwound more evenly and showed fewer edge marks after slitting than rolls with unstable release. PET flatness, coating uniformity, liner release force, and roll tension are checked before shipment. The material can be supplied as self adhesive PET film, PSA polyester film, or adhesive backed PET sheet.

Benefits

  • Stable PET carrier helps the roll run flatter and reduces stretching, tearing, and wrinkles.
  • PSA adhesive layer bonds by pressure without solvent, water, or heat activation.
  • Release liner protects the adhesive and helps reduce roll blocking during storage.
  • Roll stock fits continuous laminating, panel covering, and converting lines.
  • Sheet form is easier for overlays, product identification, and flat bonding.
  • Acrylic PSA can be adjusted for tack, peel strength, removability, and temperature resistance.
  • In a 24-hour internal flat-panel test at 23 C, cleaned glass and coated aluminum showed no obvious edge lift when proper roller pressure was used.

How Does the Release Liner Affect Lamination-Ready PET Film?

The release liner directly affects how lamination-ready PET film behaves before final application. A suitable liner should release smoothly without pulling the film, leaving adhesive marks, or causing sudden tension changes. If release is too tight, the film may stretch or lift unevenly. If it is too loose, adhesive can transfer, block at roll edges, or collect dust. For sheets, lay-flat paper liner or PET liner also helps reduce curling.

What Should Be Checked Before Choosing Industrial Adhesive Polyester Film?

Before selecting industrial adhesive polyester film, check the full structure, not only color, thickness, or price. PET thickness affects stiffness and handling. Adhesive thickness affects wet-out, peel strength, and edge lifting. The release liner affects unwinding, flatness, and application stability. Smooth high-energy surfaces such as glass and coated metal usually bond more predictably than rough, dusty, oily, or low-surface-energy plastics. For large-volume production, confirm roll width, liner type, adhesive tack, peel value, surface finish, storage condition, and trial bonding result.

FAQ

What is adhesive backed polyester film used for?

It is used for lamination, labels, overlays, protective covering, panel bonding, and flat surface applications requiring PET stability and PSA bonding.

Can this film be supplied in both rolls and sheets?

Yes. It can be supplied as jumbo rolls, slit rolls, or sheets for laminating, printing, and flat bonding work.

Which adhesive should be selected?

Permanent acrylic PSA is used for stronger bonding, removable PSA for cleaner removal, and lamination PSA for overlay or panel applications.

Does every surface need testing before use?

Yes. Plastics, coated panels, painted metal, and printed surfaces should be tested for adhesion, edge lift, and liner release before bulk use.
